Orange County Forest Fire Rages Out Of Control |
2006/2/14
National Forest is spreading rapidly amid winds and is moving toward homes.
Police have begun to ask residents in nearby Anaheim Hills to start evacuating the area.
The 1200-acre blaze was sparked in the Sierra Peak area of the forest.
Dozens of national and state forest firefighters have joined crews from Orange County to battle the fire.
Winds that are topping 29 miles per hour are pushing the fire toward the Anaheim Hills area, but it's so far been confined to the national forest.
Miller says about 50 county firefighters have made it through the rugged forest terrain to begin fighting the blaze, with more crews on the way.
The national forest fire patrol is coordinating the effort and also has crews on the scene. |
