Panel Products of Milwaukie has purchased the former Louisiana-Pacific Corp. veneer drying operation in Rogue River, according to the Associated Press.
The lumber wholesaler also bought a plywood plant in White City in December 2002.
The Rogue River plant, which employs 27 people, became available after LP announced it was moving its headquarters from Portland to Nashville, Tenn., last fall, AP reported.
LP announced in September it would move approximately 120 of 250 jobs lodged throughout the Portland area to Nashville in an effort to consolidate its highest-level employees closer to the company's network of facilities in the Eastern half of the United States. The company has sold off underperforming assets, including substantial timberland holdings and plywood mills throughout the United States, and boosted sales in continuing operations.
