2005/8/4
JAKARTA, Aug 3 Asia Pulse - The International Tropical Timber Council (ITTC) has agreed to provide financial aid to finance five forestry projects in Indonesia.
ITTC pledged US$1.1 million in grants for three of the projects in 2005-2006, a report said.
The three projects include the rehabilitation of damaged forests in Ciamis in West Java, with funds to be provided by Japan and Norway; a project to utilize small diameter trees with funds from the Common Funds for Commodities (CFC); and rehabilitation of damaged forests in West Kalimantan with funds from the Netherlands, the United States and Japan.
ITTC gave its agreement after lobbying by an Indonesian delegation at an ITTC meeting in June in Brazzaville, the Republic of Congo.
