The upswing that occurred in the German timber trade in March continued in April and May as well. The monthly comparison of businesses carried out by the German Timber Trade Federation (GD Holz) amongst its members shows that sales revenues not weighted by the scale of sales improved in April by 6.8% against the same month of last year. Cumulated over the first four months, however, sales remained 1.2% behind last year’s figure due to the sharp reductions in the first two months. Weighting by the scale of sales of the companies in the poll reveals growth of 3.3% for the cumulated period up to and including April. Weighted sales up to the end of May were even 5.4% higher than last year’s figures. |
