| First requests for quotes for Chinese birch plywood in the last few weeks |

(06 August 2009) The rise in prices for Russian birch plywood and the supply difficulties that are already emerging in some cases have led to growing interest in Chinese birch plywood again in the last few weeks. The focus is still on combined birch/poplar film-faced/wire-mesh plywood at the moment but wire-mesh birch plywood throughout is in demand as well in some instances. In most cases, however, the interest involves initial enquiries from the import trade or for individual top-up purchases; no major transactions have been reported to date. |
