30 July 2009) Forest owners are reporting a noticeable revival of demand on the Austrian roundwood market for sawable softwood roundwood. The triggering factors for this current development are a livening-up of the sales situation on the softwood lumber markets in Italy and Germany, as well as on the Austrian domestic market, and what are in part below-average roundwood stocks at Austrian sawmills. In a number of cases, Austrian sawmills are even reporting a shortage of roundwood, as a result of which there have already been restrictions imposed on softwood lumber production.
